The Challenge

Our client needed an empty 40ft container repositioned within a private property. The site layout made sideloader access impossible — there simply wasn’t enough room to approach or unload conventionally. While a 40ft container weighs only about 3.9 tonnes when empty, its size and length make it difficult to manage safely.

Because of the restricted access and private property conditions, the only feasible solution was to use our Argosy 8×4 crane truck, equipped with a 43-tonne-metre Effer crane.

The Solution

Although a 40ft container exceeds the Argosy’s legal on-road length and weight limits, we can safely lift and reposition such containers off public roads when all risk and compliance requirements are met. Our team used the Effer crane to lift the 40ft unit, load it carefully onto the truck deck, and relocate it across the property.

This manoeuvre allowed the container to be placed in a location accessible for a later sideloader pickup — saving the client from costly external crane hire or complicated site works.
